Dog Day Care Hub is a directory of dog daycare facilities across the United States, currently listing over 6,000 businesses in more than 3,000 cities. It’s built and run by one person: me.

Who I Am

I’m Dr. Jonathan Barrett, a small animal veterinarian with a BVSc and 20 years of clinical experience. I don’t specialize in one area; over two decades I’ve spent time across general medicine, behavior, and surgery, and I still enjoy all three. I currently practice small animal veterinary medicine, and I built Dog Day Care Hub alongside that work, not instead of it.

Why I Built This

The idea came from a specific, frustrating afternoon. I needed to find a daycare for my own dog while I was out of town, somewhere unfamiliar. I didn’t know the area, and I didn’t know which local facilities were actually good. What I ran into wasn’t a lack of information: it was information scattered across a dozen different sites, none of which let me compare facilities, features, and locations in one place.

That gap is what Dog Day Care Hub is meant to close. It started as a directory, but I also wanted it to be something more: a resource that helps dog owners understand their dog’s health and behavior, not just where to drop them off for the day. That’s the reasoning behind the guides on this site, alongside the directory itself, both come from the same goal of helping owners make better-informed decisions about their dogs’ care.

How I Verify Every Listing

Every business on this site has to meet a baseline before it’s included at all: a verified, active Google Business Profile. If a facility doesn’t have a claimed, verified presence on Google Maps, it doesn’t get listed, regardless of how it looks otherwise. That’s a real barrier that filters out businesses that aren’t operating as an established, findable, physical presence.

From there, I went through the review history for every listing individually, reading up to the last 100 reviews per business, to build a qualitative picture of what pet parents actually experience: how staff are described, what people say about the facility itself, and how the business seems to approach daycare day to day. Star rating alone wasn’t the bar. A facility with a lower average rating but consistent, substantive engagement and a real operating history could still be included; the read-through was about getting an honest sense of the business, not just filtering by a number.

This site has been live for about six months, and that verification process is the same one I use for every new listing that gets added.

What This Site Is, and Isn’t

This is not a booking platform, and I don’t have a financial relationship with the facilities listed here. It’s a directory and an educational resource, meant to shorten the amount of time and guesswork it takes a pet parent to find a daycare worth touring in person, and to give them useful, accurate information about their dog along the way.
